<intro>
Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith became the youngest player in NBA history to record 1,000 career blocks. Smith rejected Oklahoma City Thunder center Nenad Krstic in the first quarter to accomplish the feat.

Former Los Angeles Clippers center Benoit Benjamin was the previous holder of the record, but Smith, 24, is more than a full year younger than Benjamin was when he set it.

Smith, in his sixth season out of Oak Hill Academy (HS), has averaged 2.4 blocks per game in his career so far.

He is currently in a tie for second in the NBA in blocks this year with Philadelphia 76ers center Samuel Dalembert and Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut with 2.2 per game. Dwight Howard continues to pace the NBA at 2.7 per contest.
